About this opportunity:
Reporting to the Manager, Community & Indigenous Affairs, the Analyst, Community & Indigenous Affairs will play a key role in the execution of engagement plans and activities that ensure alignment with Cenovus’s business priorities and values. They will be responsible for supporting business strategies, regulated Government consultation, regional investment initiatives, agreement management and events.
This position will be located at the Calgary office. Open to alternative Cenovus Alberta locations.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop materials to support consultation with Indigenous communities in alignment with regulatory requirements and community obligations/conditions.
  • Work alongside regional advisors to ensure consultation resources/tools are in place so that consultation can be executed successfully.
  • Compile and submit consultation documentation to the Aboriginal Consultation Office (ACO) in alignment to submission standards.
  • Audit consultation documentation for consistency and accuracy prior to submitting to Indigenous communities and regulatory agencies for review (adequacy decisions).
  • Assist the broader team with managing and compiling consultation records, community profiles and other regulatory and/or reporting materials to ensure they are complete, updated and organized to advance the Community & Indigenous Affairs (CIA) team’s objectives and accountabilities.
  • Establish data entry governance and standards in collaboration with regional advisors towards the execution of the STS Stakeholder Database program.
  • Work collaboratively with the Community & Indigenous Affairs (CIA) team to support various engagement activities, meetings with Indigenous communities, coordination of engagement plans, regulatory materials, budgets, and other departmental deliverables.
  • Assist in the implementation and management of long-term agreements held with Indigenous communities.
  • Assist in the preparation of briefings and materials for external community audiences.
  • Support the Community and Indigenous Affairs (CIA) team and the Indigenous business development lead on compiling Indigenous business information, including; but not limited to, Indigenous contractor listings and business spend reporting.
  • Review existing departmental process/procedures and collaborate with peers on potential continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide additional support to the Community & Indigenous Affairs team as required.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3-6 years of relevant, cumulative experience in Indigenous engagement.
  • Knowledge/experience in surface land administration (crown acquisition).
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Self-starter, capable of working independently.
  • Strong client relationship, interpersonal and team skills.
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities, community investment or community engagement (considered an asset).
  • Proficiency working with STS Stakeholder Database software program.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Valid Canadian Driver’s License, flexibility to travel to site as required.
  • Post-Secondary certificate or diploma in a related field.
  • Professional association member, professional accreditation is an asset.
