Community Living Worker
Community Living Upper Ottawa Valley (CLUOV) is a dynamic, innovative organization that supports local adults with developmental disabilities. Our vision is to assist in building an inclusive community, where individuals with developmental disability are included in community life. The support we provide to individuals includes: assistance with employment, day supports, housing and independent living, community supports and respite care.
We are currently recruiting for Permanent and Contract Full-Time Assistant Community Living Workers to join our team to work overnight shifts. This is a great opportunity for you to work collaboratively with a team built around the needs of the person supported. We are seeking candidates that will be available to work right away. Online video interviewing and/or teleconference interviews will be available during this time of social distancing due to the outbreak.
Responsibilities:
- Communicating clearly with individuals, families, community members and CLUOV
- Being committed to an important role in the lives of people who rely on CLUOV for support
- Promoting an individual's well-being through: personal care, medication management, and other life skills
- Always working in a safe manner and consistent in following CLUOV policies
- Proactively contributing to the CLUOV team to make the organization the best it can be
- Being respectful of the needs of individuals by being committed to the work schedule
Qualifications
The Community Living Worker is an integral role in someone's life. You will need to have skills such as patience, calmness in difficult situations, problem-solving abilities and the ability to show leadership by advocating for an individual so they can learn to be confident doing so for themselves. In short, you need to be a positive role model. In addition, the following will help you achieve success in this position:
· Post-secondary education (PSW, 1 year, health, or human services) or a combination of education and experience that supports your application in this role
· Experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities is a definite asset, though we provide extensive orientation and training for this position
· Experience with supporting individuals in other ways (i.e. ageing parents) is an asset to this position
· Experience in contributing to a team environment while working independently
· Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle
· Current certifications: First Aid, CPR, Criminal Record Check (with Vulnerable Sector Screening)
· Comfortable being part of a team and contributing to making our agency the best it can be
· Bilingualism is an asset
The salary for this position is $18.00 - $22.23 and Permanent FT positions include benefits, and contract positions include 5.9% in lieu.
