Purpose:
Successful applicants will be given an opportunity to learn and develop skills which are necessary to become a professional Class 1 Driver.
Position Overview:
The Delivery Service Representative in Training will work with the Transportation Training Specialist to learn all aspects and responsibilities of the role, including, but not limited to: customer service, pre / post trip, safety and company policies, procedures and practices. In addition, the successful candidate will gain hands-on experience to become a Delivery Service Representative.
Duties and Responsibilities:
This position will provide opportunities to learn the correct offloading of product from the vehicle, recording of delivery information, accepting payment (no cash) for goods when required, and ensuring overall vehicle safety. Upon completion of the training program, the Delivery Service Representative in Training will be expected to operate the delivery vehicle in a safe manner at all times, obeying all rules of the road, and follow all appropriate company policies and procedures.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Meets or exceeds current role’s performance expectations
  • Valid Class 5 license or higher with a clean driver’s abstract is required
  • Candidates will be required to obtain their learners license and air brakes within their first 3 months of employment
  • Eligibility for bonding based on the results of a criminal record check
  • Strong customer service skills
  • High level of personal integrity and strong work ethic
  • Professional demeanour under stressful situations
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds frequently
  • Must be able to work with little or no supervision; must be self-directed
Successful candidates must commit to remaining employed Full Time with GFS BC Transportation department for a minimum of 36 months after completion of the program or be required to reimburse GFS BC the pro-rated cost of the course.
