Buyer

Our Engineering client is hiring a Buyer to join their growing team.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring the effective and timely execution of purchasing activities
• Providing an uninterrupted flow of goods and/or services required by the organization wherever possible
• Analyzing of quotations and summarization for category buyers
• Receiving purchase requisitions (PR) and transform them into purchase orders (PO)
• Managing PO cancellation, rescheduling or PO information change (quantity, price)
• Engaging with Suppliers and ensuring they acknowledge PO receipt and provide delivery commitment
• Ensuring accuracy of the order, commodity code, location, supplier information, etc.
• Managing local negotiations within the Delegated threshold
• Maintain close relationship with Suppliers and other Tactical Buyers
• Becomes knowledgeable about company purchasing policies/procedures and continually monitors day-to-day activities for compliance
• Supports activities to ensure compliance with ISO series quality accreditation and Defense regulatory requirements

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience performing similar activities within a supply chain environment
• Experience and ability to understand contract terms & conditions
• Previous experience using of SAP or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
• Knowledge of Export regulations an asset
• Proficient in MS Office Suite
• Excellent communication and people skills

Preferred/Assets

• Bilingual: English/ French an asset
• Knowledge of Industrial Technical Benefits, Canadian Content Value an asset
• Bachelor’s Degree, Purchasing Certification and/or 2-4 years of Procurement/Purchasing experience would be preferred
• Previous experience in the Defense Industry would be preferred
