Job Summary
Bring your policy and legislation expertise to this exciting role

Strategic Operations Division supports the work of probation and correctional officers in the field and BC Corrections management and staff in a number of key areas. This includes policy analysis, program development and management, Aboriginal relations, information management and data quality, research and evaluation, and strategic direction. Strategic Operations Division staff are responsible for bridging these areas and working with the other divisions to ensure that case management of clients is focused on changing criminal behaviour and protecting communities.

The Policy and Program Analyst is responsible for the development, analysis and evaluation of BC Corrections, Community Corrections and Adult Custody policies, programs and procedures, recommending and drafting legislation, regulations and service delivery standards and internal and external communications.

Each policy and program analyst is assigned a portfolio in a number of broad workstreams, including:
  • Operations
  • Programs
  • Case Management/Sentence Administration
  • Corporate initiatives


Job Requirements:

  • Degree in criminology, public administration, social sciences, business administration, law or a related field and three (3) years management experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience in researching, developing, and writing clear and concise policy documents, as well as procedure guides, regulations, correspondence, briefing notes or public discussion papers that address complex and sensitive issues.
  • Experience providing written and verbal advice and recommendations to senior management, partners and multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience working both independently and providing leadership to individuals and cross-sector teams.
  • Demonstrated experience conceptualizing, planning, managing and implementing complex projects.
  • Experience in interpreting and drafting legislation and policy.
