GFL Environmental is looking for an Apprentice Millwright to be based out of our Winterburn location!
As an Apprentice Millwright with GFL Environmental, you’ll be performing a variety of diagnostics and repairs on electronics, conveyers, and compactors that provide support and service to our plant operations. Additionally, you will be tasked with completing minor welding repairs, along with daily reporting and tracking of all of maintenance and repairs.
Key Responsibilities:
Specific experience with preventative maintenance and diagnostics on conveyors, electronics, and electronic motors
Competency using various computer systems to record and document repairs and diagnose problems
Performs maintenance related work as required
Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards
Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures
Other duties that may arise as assigned by supervisor or members of the Management Team.
Perform daily pre and post use inspections of various equipment and fall protection equipment.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
Apprentice Millwright (1st – 3rd year)
Physical requirements of this position include the ability to push, pull, drag, and lift items up to 50 pounds, and occasionally must work at shoulder level with equipment weighing up to 25 pounds
Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations
Must have a valid Class 5 license, or optionally Class 3 with airbrakes endorsement
Work hours may require overtime, weekends and/or holidays. Including evenings and night shift
Must be able to supply your own set of hand tools to perform basic repairs
Capable of operating various equipment, forklifts, aerial work platforms etc.
Comfortable with working at heights, from aerial work platforms, scissor lifts, scaffolding and ladders.
Use of various fall protection equipment, full body harness, fall arrest, and travel restraint systems.
Experience in rigging and hoisting will be considered an asset.
