About the Position

Norfolk General Hospital’s Holmes House is seeking an experienced administrative assistant to work part

time to help support scheduling and data entry.

Qualifications:

  • Post Secondary diploma or certificate in an administration program or relevant experience
  • Minimum one-year office coordination experience including scheduling
  • Ability to type 60 words per minute
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills
  • Demonstrated time management, financial and file management skills, including but not limited to,

accounting and bookkeeping

  • Above average interpersonal skills including experienced in dealing with confidential matters

involving clients, clients’ families, health records and contracts

  • Ability to apply legal and ethical considerations required in a rehabilitation setting
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Demonstrated understanding medical terminology, certificate preferred
  • Demonstrated computer skills including Microsoft Office. Familiarity with Medi-tech and Catalyst
  • information systems preferred
  • Hold a Class G driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Excellent attendance record

Principle Duties Include:

  • Supports Holmes House planning, development and regular programming initiatives.
  • Supports administration to staff, including but not limited to, handling of;
  • confidential client matters, file administration, scheduling staff, preparing brochures and

newsletters, data entry etc.

  • Communicates activities to staff and where appropriate clients and their affiliates.
  • Demonstrates understanding of, compliance with, and commitment to, client safety responsibilities

and corresponding hospital plans, policies and procedures in order to ensure a safe environment for

clients

  • Adheres to all health and safety policies, procedures, and provisions set up by senior leadership

and the Holmes House Supervisor

  • Responsible for recognizing unsafe work practices and other potential hazards in the work area,

and for reporting these situations to the Supervisor or designate.

  • Other relevant duties as assigned

minutes from the Greater Toronto Area. Situated in Norfolk County (Ontario’s South Coast), Simcoe is not

far from Lake Erie and the 88 miles of shoreline that includes long stretches of sandy beach.
