Project Manager

The Project Manager is primarily responsible for managing the activities of designated projects to ensure that goals or objectives of project are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters for large environmental projects in Canada.

You have significant experience carrying out projects through all project stages from scoping, through planning/design and construction. You will be able to manage and deliver projects within budget, meet project deadlines and work well within a team environment and independently.

Practically speaking you will:

  • Create, maintain, and support a loyal team that seeks to engage in learning, development, and relationship building
    • Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
    • Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
    • Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
    • Work with company cost tracking (EZ TRAC/ Cost Point) and accounting system
    • Work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
    • Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
    • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
    • Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
    • Implement programs to address complex needs and problems
    • Communicate with persuasiveness and exercise effective negotiation techniques as needed
    • Develop, maintain, and effectively communicate project schedules. Includes the development of Network diagrams. Also, need to be able to use both Primavera and Microsoft Project scheduling software
    • Travel as needed

The Details:

This is a full-time permanent position working Monday to Friday (occasional overtime & weekends), 7:30 – 5:00 PM. Our client offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience, a comprehensive benefits plan, and vacation.

What You’ll Bring

  • Canadian Nuclear Security Clearance (5 years in country)
  • 5 years of working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local environmental law regulations, and guidance as they apply to the region specified in the solicitation
  • 2 years of successful environmental project management experience with emphasis on management of costs, schedule, communication, and application of other project resources
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, geology, chemistry, or science discipline is required. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for this requirement
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office products, email systems, and Windows

Assets

  • 40-hour HAZWOPER, 8-hour HAZWOPER supervisory and 8-hour HAZWOPER annual refresher training
  • Experience with cost tracking and accounting systems, such as EZ TRAC and Cost Point
  • 5 years working experience in HTRW remedial action project management or hazardous waste disposal industry
  • 3 years experience related to remedial construction at HTRW sites
