The Safety Codes Council (Council) is an independent, self-funded regulatory organization mandated to provide oversight of the system and technical disciplines through a number of key legislated functions and client focused services. We provide leadership by guiding, educating, supporting, and collaborating with all stakeholders in Alberta’s safety codes system.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Administrative Associate is the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders of the Accreditation program. The role delivers prompt and timely customer service to organizations that are accredited or wish to become accredited and ensures that accurate and complete information is provided.

JOB DETAILS

  • Process order and variance information and requests received.
  • Process applications and provide support by monitoring, tracking, and reporting of the status of the applications.
  • Draft correspondence and other documents of a complex nature, producing professional documents with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Assists with the preparation, issuance, and review of annual internal reports.
  • Assists with the preparation of annual fee invoices, tracking of payments and following up on unpaid invoices.
  • Maintain information within corresponding files and the Council’s information management systems.
  • Data entry, send and track invoices, and prepare and issue system reports.
  • Conduct program, policy, and process research.
  • Provide client service by delivering information in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Actively participate, collaborate, and support the team on projects, work methods, policies and procedures while monitoring and tracking progress.

THE REQUIREMENTS

  • Post-secondary certificate, diploma or degree in office or business administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a professional office environment providing client service.
  • Experience using office software (e.g., Adobe, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, Zoom).
  • Experience drafting correspondence and other documents of a complex nature with a high degree of accuracy.
  • An understanding of project management principles and practices is an asset.
  • Experience conducting statistical research, data analytics, root cause analysis, performance measurement, and data reporting are an asset.
  • Experience with a CRM database is an asset.

Notes

  • Office location is 10405 Jasper Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta.
  • Hours of work: 36.25 hours per week (Monday – Friday).

About the Safety Codes Council

The (Council) is an independent regulatory body established in 1993 under the Act. The Council provides oversight of Alberta’s safety codes system through a number of key mandated functions including:

  • Accrediting and monitoring the compliance of municipalities, agencies, corporations, and regional service commissions in administering the Act within specified jurisdictions.
  • For the 300,000 Albertans who live in unaccredited areas of the province, the Alberta Safety Codes Authority (ASCA) conducts permitting, inspections and oversees spill and incident reporting requirements for storage tank systems across the province.
  • Training and certifying safety codes officers to inspect the construction, installation and maintenance of Alberta’s structures and systems and administering Alberta’s Master Electrician program.
  • Reviewing, formulating, safety codes and standards, and evaluating emerging issues in the safety codes system to provide recommendations to Alberta Municipal Affairs.
  • Investigating complaints and conducting investigations on the conduct, performance, or competency of an organization or individual having authority, powers, or duties under the Act.
  • Conducting hearings and appeals of orders and written notices issued under the authority of the Act.
