Pay rate: Currently $48.79 /hour + 4%.

Night School will be run in a VIRTUAL and IN-PERSON FORMAT this session

There is only one posting for the Winter 2023 Night School Session. All teachers (with or without Continuing Education (CE) Seniority) can apply to this posting. You MUST hold Intermediate & Senior qualifications with the Ontario College of Teachers (in good standing) at the time of application. As per the Collective Agreement, applicants with CE Seniority who appear on the October 2022 Continuing Education Seniority List and hold the required qualifications will be offered positions first. If there are positions still available after all teachers with CE Seniority who applied to this posting have been placed, teachers without CE Seniority may be offered a position based on their applicable qualifications.

The Winter 2023 Night School program offers Reach Ahead courses in the following subjects: Guidance and Career Education, Cooperative Education, English, Mathematics, Science, Social Sciences and Humanities, ESL as well as the Ontario Secondary School Literacy course. The Winter 2023 Night School program will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from Thursday February 23, 2023 to Tuesday, May 30, 2023 (26 Evenings). There will be a Staff Meeting prior to the start of the Night School program) on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm via Google Meets. Each session is 3.85 instructional hours running from 5:30 p.m. to 9:21 pm. Teachers must be prepared to deliver the assigned credit through Synchronous and Asynchronous platforms according to a PREDETERMINED Schedule as well as 5 In-Person sessions at Adult High School. The platforms that will be used to deliver virtual learning expectations, will include Google Classroom as the Learning Management Platform and Google Meet for class meetings. Teachers may also wish to incorporate other vetted applications and resources and will be able to access resources within the VLE. Five In-Person sessions: labs and/or experiential learning tasks (Mar 30, Apr 27, May 11) and final assessments (May 23 and 25). The In-Person dates are subjected to change.

Please note, as per the collective agreement, article 40.02 c: in the event that the Employer cancels two (2) or more day/evenings of Continuing Education courses as a result of unforeseen circumstances beyond its control, Continuing Education teachers will be required to attend and teach a make-up evening. For the WINTER 2023 Night School Session, the replacement date is Thursday, June 1, 2023.

Staffing Timelines:
Staffing timelines for Night School become more and more constrained as we edge closer to the end of registration. Offers of work will begin no earlier than February 1, 2023 but could be as late as Thursday, February 23, 2023. Offers will be sent via email to the address on record in Apply to Education by the Principal of Continuing Education. If you do not want emails going to the email address recorded in ATE, please update before the posting closes. Offers will have specific response parameters, including timelines for acceptance/decline. Where acceptances are not received within the timeframes specified in the email, it will be assumed that you are declining the offer of work.

PLEASE NOTE: As a condition of employment, all new employees will be required to submit a recent Police Record Check for the vulnerable sector prior to their start date with the OCDSB.
