Buffalo Trail Public Schools requires a full-time temporary teacher for the 2023-2024 school year. Placement will be at Amisk School. The teaching assignment will include all subject areas in grade 1 and additional duties as assigned by the principal.
Amisk School is a small rural school that serves students in ECS through grade 3. Our school is a close knit community, whose members believe in nurturing and developing the whole child. Primary learning is our focus, and students are encouraged to grow in all ways. Our staff is a cohesive group who collaborate well and work together to maximize student learning and experiences.
Amisk School is located in the Village of Amisk - serving the communities of Amisk, Hughenden, Czar, and Metiskow. Amisk residents have access to skating, curling, bowling, and golf facilities, libraries, a dance academy and 3 well maintained community halls. Nearby Shorncliff Lake Provincial Park offers the chance for recreational boating and swimming in the summer months, and is ideal for snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and wildlife viewing in the winter time. The Village of Amisk has housing available at very reasonable rates and is a 15 minute drive to Hardisty (which is a central oil hub for many established oil companies) or a 30 minute drive to Wainwright.
The successful candidate will possess the following:
- A valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
- Shall be a dynamic student-centered educator committed to maximizing learning in a safe and caring environment
- Experience and/or training in the application of Assessment for Learning strategies, embedded formative assessment, and varied summative assessments is essential
- Possess a strong background in the use of technology to enhance student learning
- Ability to create a positive learning environment and foster positive professional relationships with students
- Is dependable with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate in a team setting
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to professional growth and continually increasing their effectiveness as an educator
- A willingness to participate in extracurricular activities would be considered an asset
- Specific training or experience in teaching primary grades, with a focus on developing numeracy and literacy in young learners
