We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time, permanent Team Lead, Insurance to join our growing team! Reporting to the Director, Membership, Insurance & Benefits, the Team Lead, Insurance provides strategic management of SMA Insurance administration and advisory services. The Team Lead, Insurance creatively develops new and innovative delivery of superior member experiences through leading-edge insurance advisory services, administration, education, tools, and resources. The Team Lead, Insurance has specialized expertise in insurance policy and administration, and keeps informed on emerging developments, industry trends, and regulatory requirements.

This position is based on-site at our office in Saskatoon, SK, with a voluntary hybrid work option allowing remote work from home up to 4 out of 5 days per week subject to approval under our Hybrid Work Arrangement policy.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Trusted advisor relationship with members on their SMA insurance by recommending SMA insurance products to SMA student, resident and physician members by analyzing, interpreting, and evaluating client data with the goal to understand and provide appropriate insurance solutions. Provide service regarding inquiries, applications, medical underwriting, financial underwriting, certificates, and changes within established parameters. Advocate on behalf of members when necessary.
  • Accountable for accuracy and effectiveness of insurance program delivery.
  • Assists in developing a compelling long-term vision, operational plans, risk management, and monitoring progress against objectives and Key Performance Indicators.
  • Cultivating innovation in the implementation and continual improvement of member insurance digital strategy and leveraging technological efficiencies.
  • Leadership through effective performance management, engaged communications, positive work environment, a learning culture and fostering cross-team alignment.
  • Leveraging and strengthening relationships with external stakeholders such as insurance companies, University of Saskatchewan, MD Financial, provincial medical associations, resident and student associations, etc.
  • Developing educational media and communications to members through seminars, direct consultations, publications, and technology tactics.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director, Membership, Benefits, & Insurance.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Human Resources, Commerce, Economics, Finance, Actuarial Science or a combination of experience and benefit certification(s).
  • Insurance management experience with 5 to 10 years of progressive responsibility.
  • Licensed with the Insurance Councils of Saskatchewan for Accident & Sickness is an asset.
  • Familiarity with third-party administration of insurance policy is an asset.

Salary

$90,613- $122,678 per annum commensurate with experience.
