Within the Energy department, as a Team Lead Civil & Structural Design Engineer:

Your responsibilities
– Provide detailed conceptual plans, engineering designs and drawings for civil/ structural work, regarding low, medium and high voltage electrical transformers and distribution stations, with the collaboration of the technical team;
– Participate in the preparation of work planning and submissions for new projects;
– Carry out analysis and structural calculations;
– Carry out structural detailed engineering and feasibility concept designs;
– Master steel and concrete design according to the analysis codes and 3D designs used in Canada and abroad;
– Assist technicians in DAO, 2D and 3D, for the preparation of drawings;
– Prepare plans, estimates and participate in the proposals;
– Ability to review geotechnical designs;
– Ability to perform water management calculations;
– Participate in hydraulic calculations;
– Prepare calculations for water and oil dividers as well as the required containment device as per the project criteria;
– Participate in the preparation of reports for approval by the Ministry of Environment (MOE);
– Ensure the supervision and development of junior technicians and drafters;
– Conduct on-site visits;

Your profile
– A university degree in structural engineer with a specialization in civil engineering;
– 8 to 15 years of relevant experience;
– Experience with public service companies such as Hydro-One, Local Distribution Companies (LDC), Hydro Ontario, Ontario Power Generation (OPG), Ministry of Environment (MOE) or with Power plant and general substations (asset);
– Registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario (P.Eng);
– Registered as a Professional Geoscientists of Ontario (asset)
– Familiar with the major design norms and standards;
– Proficiency in 3D structural analysis software and design software;
– Practical knowledge of foundation and structural analysis software;
– Knowledge of transmission and distribution in LV, MV and HV;
– Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite;
– Working knowledge of Civil Cad3D (2014-2020), AutoTurn 8.2-11 (asset);
– Efficient at writing reports and estimates;
– Excellent team player with great communication skills;
– Ability to respect deadlines and have a good sense of priorities;
– Detail oriented, strong observational skills, curious, resourceful and proactive;
– Good knowledge of English, both oral and written;
