HCM provides a competitive salary structure and starting wage based on previous, related experience. Additionally, HCM provides weekly, monthly, and annual attendance bonuses, equaling a potential additional $1.40 per hour; a Team Achievement Bonus paid two times per year; an industry leading Defined Contribution (DC) pension that includes company contributions and company matching; and a comprehensive benefit plan that provides choice and flexibility with the cost subsidized by company contributions. HCM also provides shift premiums paid at 5% per hour up to $1.70 for afternoon shift, and 10% per hour up to $3.40 for the overnight shift.

As the Tariff Management Associate, you will be responsible for developing tariff and duty mitigation strategies through analysis, planning, implementation and problem solving by understanding the requirements of new model, business plan and/or innovation to achieve or exceed cost A00’s.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage OEM Supplier Tariff Mitigation and Duty Drawback project (recover duties paid eligible for refund via U.S. CBP drawback program)
  • Frequent communication with external duty drawback consultant and OEM suppliers
  • Develop tariff and cost mitigation strategies for OEM parts
  • Cost improvement planning and execution, including cost recovery forecasting
  • Part customs data analysis (country of origin, HTS code, duty rate), root-cause analysis, decision analysis (modeling alternatives)
  • Develop duty drawback process improvement strategies
  • Cost negotiation with OEM part suppliers related to duty mitigation
  • Monthly report to Division Manager of plan vs actual of project

Requirements:

  • Degree or diploma in Global Supply Chain/International Logistics, International Customs, Trade, or equivalent cost experience in a Purchasing/Supply Chain/Logistics related function
  • International trade agreement knowledge (i.e., NAFTA/CUSMA, CEPA, TPP)
  • Strong problem-solving skills with root cause analysis and countermeasure development
  • Strong cost and data analysis skills with ability to interpret and manage information and data, including forecasting
  • Intermediate user of Excel functions, formulas, and pivot tables* (Applicant will be tested for cost analysis using pivot tables, and v-lookup formulas)

Job Related Must Haves:

  • Must be able to lift up to 25lbs
  • Able to work overtime/weekends as required on short notice
  • Valid “G” driver’s license
  • Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally, sometimes on short notice. Valid Canadian Passport, or B1 Visa is required. In addition, must be able to meet and current COVID-19 travel requirements required by Canadian and/or foreign governments.
  • Willing and able to support call in duties for production Saturday, shutdown activities, support second shift and yard sweeps as required
  • Willing to cancel pre-booked vacations as required

Preferred Experience:

  • Excellent analytical, organization, and communication skills
  • Cost knowledge related to supply chain, logistics, manufacturing
  • Project Management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a team player
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to lead meetings
