WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for a Sustainability Associate Manager, to join us on a 6 month contract, who will be responsible for working with the Senior Manager of Environmental Sustainability to execute various sustainability programs and initiatives and help to ensure DECIEM is developing best practices regarding global sustainability and corporate social responsibility.

This is a hybrid role based out of our Toronto & Etobicoke office.

WHAT YOU’D BE DOING IN THIS ROLE

  • Responsible for collaborating with internal stakeholders across multiple departments, including but not limited to, Procurement, Brand, Lab, and Design, to help plan and implement sustainability programs across the organization
  • Act as a subject matter expert and technical resource for packaging and waste related inquiries and projects
  • Assist with the development of sustainable policies and initiatives that emphasize the proper use of environmental resources and the lowering DECIEM’s environmental footprint, specifically waste and packaging
  • Contribute to establishing and updating policies, procedures, and processes with other internal key stakeholders
  • Partner with the Senior Manager of Environmental Sustainability to monitor evolving global responsibility waste and packaging best practices and industry standards
  • Support sustainable packaging initiatives for both existing and new product launches
  • Implement and monitor internal and external waste initiatives
  • Contribute to reporting and support overall sustainability strategy development while tracking key activities as needed
  • Help coordinate and present any applicable employee awareness training
  • Provide support to engage all global employees in DECIEM's vision for a human world of beauty by promoting environmental awareness and best practices
  • Perform other duties as assigned

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED TO GET THE JOB DONE

  • Bachelor’s Degree or diploma with a focus on environment and/or sustainability or similar discipline is required to be considered
  • Relevant sustainability experience is required, experience within a retail environment preferred
  • Experience in waste reduction and consumer goods packaging
  • Experience measuring and monitoring environmental impacts such as Waste, Water, GHG emissions and Energy
  • Knowledge of sustainable packaging concepts, recyclability of packaging, and new and existing regulations around packaging and waste
