Staff Accountant

As our Staff Accountant, you’ll be joining our Finance Department, managing the junior team and reporting to the Controller. Working in tandem with the Controller you will manage and deliver day-to-day financial and operational support for the company following established policies and procedures.

Roles and responsibilities of the role include the following:

  • Create, prepare, and present month end financial reporting
  • Create, and prepare weekly and monthly performance reports for Leadership team
  • Create, prepare, and present Year end closing and coordination of year end audit
  • Create, and prepare monthly HST and any other statutory filings
  • Cash Management
  • Claims Management
  • Payroll Management
  • AP AR Management including balancing to General Ledger and cash flow management
  • Work with Management team to create the organization’s annual budget and monthly rolling forecast.
  • Recommend changes to continuously improve systems and financial performance.
  • Ad hoc reporting and analysis upon request

Salary and Details

This is a full-time permanent position working in our vibrant, bright Oakville office, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Following one year of work at the office, there will be an option for a hybrid work from home schedule.

Your starting salary will range between $60,000-$65,000 per year (depending on your qualifications and experience) plus performance bonus that is paid monthly. As you learn and grow, you'll have plenty of opportunities to increase your earnings. You’ll also have a competitive benefits package and receive a company paid laptop computer and mobile phone.

Qualifications

  • University Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field
  • Pursuing a CPA designation (role will meet EVR for Practical Experience and reports to a potential CPA mentor)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts
  • Able to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines
  • Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
  • Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work
  • High standards of ethics and confidentiality with ability to preserve sensitive information
  • Exhibits tact, diplomacy, and good judgment in all facets of the role
  • Strong computer skills: proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience in the logistics or transportation industry is an asset, but not required

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $60,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
