Role: Senior Technical Writer
Client: Federal Government of Canada Client

Contract duration: 3 years (possibility of extension)

Start date: January 2023
Location: Remote
Language: Bilingual

Clearance: Must hold a valid security clearance

Responsibilities could include but are not limited to:

· Read given material and research industry-specific terminology

· Ensure translated content conveys original meaning and tone

· Cross-reference specialized dictionaries and translation tools to check quality of translation

· Proofread translated texts for grammar, spelling and punctuation accuracy

· Follow up with internal team members and clients to ensure translation meets their needs

· Edit content with an eye toward maintaining its original format (e.g., font and structure)

· Translate help text, user manuals, technical documentation, web page content, etc.

· Review documentation standards and the existing project documentation

· Use word-processing, desk-top publishing and graphics software packages to produce final camera-ready copy

· Prepare a lexicon of terms and terminology for the Program; and

· Provide ongoing support to the Quality Management Program Office

· Translator tasks may also include:

o Convert text and audio recordings from English to French Language (for online training material)

o Prepare subtitles for videos and online presentations (online training)

o Assess the audience for the documents/manuals which are required and prepare a statement of purpose and scope for each

o Investigate the accuracy of the information collected by making direct use of the material being documented

o Prepare or coordinate the preparation of any required illustrations and diagrams

o Design the layout of the documents/manuals

Skills/Experience required:

· A minimum of 5 years of experience in English to French translation of IT material

· A minimum of 7 years of experience in the field of IM/IT, gained in the role of Technical Writer
