Administrative Full-time New Position

The Assessment of Learning Consultant assists faculty and other college stakeholders in ensuring course assessments align with outcomes and that teaching leads to enhanced student learning and learning is measured effectively. The incumbent works at the individual faculty, program team, and organizational levels to promote the validity and reliability of assessments. The Assessment Consultant will share practices that can be utilized widely for effectiveness and efficiency.

Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. It is anticipated that this position will meet the needs of the department through a hybrid work arrangement.

Please note that travel to all Conestoga campuses is a requirement for this position. This position will require evening and weekend work throughout the year.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and delivers online resources, micro-courses, and synchronous workshops to support faculty in the development of assessments
  • Focuses on creating clear assignment descriptions and rubrics for various credential levels and for faculty with large cohorts of International students
  • Coordinates and creates best practice videos, blog posts, and guides, as well as customized coaching and consultations
  • Acts on data from program reviews, grades summaries, and student feedback, the individual will create solutions-focused interventions and conduct ethics-approved research on the assessment of student learning
  • Leads projects designed to enhance courses identified via the Grades Dashboard as high-fail and high-pass
  • Conducts observations for faculty at all campuses
  • Works with other team members, faculty, coordinators, Chairs, and others to identify common learning needs and develop appropriate observation and feedback mechanisms
  • Develops and delivers onboarding to new faculty
  • Supports the co-delivery of onboarding activities for Conestoga faculty (both full and part-time), including mentoring, delivery of new faculty orientation workshops, creation, and updating of new faculty onboarding resources
  • Consults with faculty and chairs as a teaching practice expert who can provide theoretical and/or applied direction and advice on a wide variety of teaching topics
  • Remains current with teaching practices and procedures by teaching one course per year at Conestoga


Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree with a focus on Education, Assessment, Quality in Higher Education and/or Artificial Intelligence; PhD preferred
  • Nine or more years of experience teaching in outcomes-based, post-secondary credit courses; Senior level secondary school experience would be considered
  • Previous experience leading “teacher education” and experience with technology-enhanced teaching practices preferred
  • High skill level in all aspects of the post-secondary education process (e.g. curriculum development, lesson planning, classroom management, evaluation, active learning, etc.)
  • Strong background in post-secondary, outcomes-based inclusive teaching methodologies, practices, and principles
  • High knowledge level in all aspects of the teaching and learning process
  • Advanced research, analytical, critical thinking, and report-writing skills
  • Excellent Microsoft Office and documentation creation skills
  • Good working knowledge of learning management systems
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Strong and demonstrable interpersonal and intercultural skills
  • Ability to facilitate difficult conversations
  • Coaching skills, consultation, and planning skills
