POSITION OVERVIEW
Senior Analyst, Accounting and Financial Reporting is responsible for performing a variety of financial analysis, maintaining accounting policies and participating in special projects under the Corporate Accounting and Financial Reporting functions.
CHALLENGES TO BE MET
  • Participate in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports while respecting tight deadlines and resolving issues that arise. Ensure data integrity by validating CFAR data versus Workday data.
  • Participate in the preparation of presentations to Board and Audit Committees.
  • Participate in the monthly executive dashboard by collecting data from various business units’ representatives and ensure accuracy.
  • Prepare Crown Corporations Forms and ensure reconciliation with quarterly and annual financial reports.
  • Prepare monthly cashflow statements.
  • Analyse results versus budget, forecasts and previous year’s actuals in collaboration with the Financial Planning & Analysis team.
  • Work closely with the risk management team in the preparation of the capital management framework analysis on a monthly basis.
  • Remain up-to-date with the international financial reporting standards (IFRS) and ensure that the financial information presentation is in compliance with the standards.
  • Responsible to ensure the internal controls for Financial Reporting are documented in a timely manner.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with various departments by responding to enquiries and resolving discrepancies.
  • Participate in special projects and recommend and develop more efficient processes and procedures.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • CPA designation
  • Five to seven years’ experience in accounting
  • Experience in a financial institution or accounting firm, an asset
  • Current understanding of general accounting and financial reporting standards (IFRS knowledge, an asset)
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong ability to learn and improve processes and procedures
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and Access
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Workday and CFAR
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet set deadlines
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to foster relationships with internal customers
  • Interpersonal skills, ability to obtain information and communicate issues and requests to others effectively
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in French and English
