Position Summary:

Reporting to the Manager, the Secretary is responsible for a range of secretarial duties as required by each service area of their home department Occupational Therapy - Outpatient Program. This position will also help with potential coverage in all Outpatient & Inpatient General Rehab departments. The Secretary is a central resource person for staff and associates of the Centre. This position requires well-developed, multi-tasking, interpersonal, learning and organizational skills as well as good judgement and reasoning. The Secretary complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Standards for the hospital and is proactive in promoting a safe work environment.

Demonstrated ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects, objectives and deadlines.
Pleasant, courteous and professional phone manner.
Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal and communication skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of general office procedures.
Demonstrated ability to perform Dictaphone transcription.
Demonstrated ability in problem solving and creative thinking.
Demonstrated knowledge of hospital organization and environment is an asset.
Demonstrated excellence in working knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Demonstrated commitment to maintaining/enhancing competence through participation in appropriate continuing education activities.
Excellent organizational abilities and initiative.
General good health and a level of fitness appropriate for the demands of the position.
Demonstrates a commitment to participate in Quality Improvement Initiatives/Programs.

Education and/or Certification:

Completion of a minimum of 2 years of Community College Office Administration; diploma required
Minimum of 2 year experience in a clerical position–required
Keyboarding, typing speed, minimum 40 wpm–required (will be tested)
Intermediate to advanced computer skills required. Ability to utilize a full Microsoft Office software system including; Word, Excel (will be tested).
