MLTC was created by nine First Nations located in north-west Saskatchewan who have constitutionally recognized aboriginal rights and Treaty Rights under Treaties #6, #8 and #10. The primary purpose of MLTC is to serve those First Nations in their aspirations for cultural, economic and political autonomy. As a private sector employer engaged primarily in promoting and serving the interests of the member First Nations, MLTC asserts its right to provide preferential treatment to First Nations people, giving them priority in decisions on employment matters such as hiring, and this can extend to measures such as opening competitions only to First Nations people.

MLTC Health & Social Development Department is seeking dynamic, motivated individual to fill the full time, term position of Residential School Administrative Program Support. The Residential School Administrative Program Support will play a fundamental support role in the “Honouring the Children” project with the MLTC Health and Social Development Department. Under the general supervision of the Residential School Project Manager, the Administrative Support will provide program support to the following MLTC program areas:

· Residential School Project Manager

· Residential School Field Worker (Dene)

· Residential School Field Worker (Cree)

Duties (include but not limited to):

· Meet all the typing needs of the above program areas inclusive of any reports, letters, memos, or manuals. Computer technical operation skills required for assignments. Typing additional tasks as delegated by supervisor, to meet other program area needs;

· Any photocopying/book bindings required in the area of preparing resource material kits;

· Maintain efficient communication with program coordinators, co-workers, Meadow Lake First Nations community members;

· Assists with the drafting of business correspondence. Review and summarize miscellaneous reports and documents. Prepares background documents as necessary; independently responds to letters and general correspondence of a routine nature;

· Prepares letters, memorandums, statistical and other material from oral dictation, rough draft, or handwritten copy or notes;

· Attends meetings and takes the minutes of the meetings for the purpose of tracking decisions. This will require arranging for meeting space, travel expenses, preparation and notification;

· Makes travel and accommodation arrangements as required;

· Maintains an agenda of issues requiring attention and decision by the Residential School Project Manager.

· Communicates and follows up on implementation decisions on behalf of the Residential School Project Manager.

· Other duties assigned

Qualifications:

· Administrative/Secretarial certificate or diploma

· Minimum 5 years relevant experience, most recently in a similar senior administrative role.

· Recognized knowledge and understanding of the Meadow Lake First Nations, beliefs, culture, and traditions to addressing mental health wellness and healing from Residential School impacts.

· Experience with working in a First Nations health organization is desirable.

· Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

· Proficient use of computers and office-based software including: Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

· Willingness to travel and possession of a valid driver’s license.

· Excellent organizational skills, time management and prioritizing of multiple demands. Sets priorities for own work and meets deadlines.

· Excellent interpersonal skills, must be able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically and professionally at all times.
