What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:
  • provide customer services through telephone and front counter reception including answering the telephone and recording messages, greeting and directing visitors;
  • type and prepare a variety of material including letters, reports, meeting minutes;
  • prepare and scan a variety of documents;
  • prepare and distribute mail;
  • accept money from public for deposit into inmate accounts by following ministry policies;
  • provide support to other administrative staff as required.


How do I qualify?

Customer Service and Communication Skills:

  • You have knowledge of office administrative policies and procedures to provide confidential clerical support services.
  • You have knowledge of customer service standards and best practices to provide reception services in a professional and tactful manner.
  • You have strong oral communication skills to provide reception services to clients, staff and the general public to answer and relay telephone calls.
  • You have the ability to acquire knowledge of a telephone switchboard and ministry services to respond to enquiries and provide customer services.
  • You have knowledge of relevant Canada Post Regulations and mail/courier procedures to process institutional mail.


Administrative and Computer Skills:

  • You have analytical and problem solving skills to respond to inquiries and refer to appropriate personnel as required.
  • You have tact and courtesy when responding to general inquiries.
  • You have written communication skills to complete correspondence and courier/mailing forms.
  • You have demonstrated computer proficiency and experience with office equipment and software such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint to prepare documents and reports.
