Stepping Stones Crisis Society, formally called Dr. Margaret Savage Crisis Centre, is looking for a Sales/Receiving Associate to work at our Orbiting Trends and Ella's Closet locations.

The primary responsibility of the Sales Associate is to provide excellent customer service to anyone who enters the store while remaining polite, courteous, and professional. This position will assist customers and support fundraising efforts through the organization's social enterprises.

Sales and Receiving Associate Duties:

  • Accept and assist with receiving & sorting donations, including pricing, hanging, and stocking shelves.
  • Assist with or complete cash register transactions as required.
  • Assist with promotion of products, displays, and in-store advertising.
  • Assist with the verification of cash deposits and making cash deposits as required.
  • Maintain a high quality of store cleanliness, quality, and customer service.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm when carrying out assigned tasks and complete assigned tasks within reasonable time frames.
  • Greet and assist customers in a manner that models exemplary conduct.
  • Act with sensitivity and empathy and in a non-judgmental fashion in dealing with all clientele.
  • Maintains awareness of Orbiting Trends/ Ella’s Closet policies and procedures and ensures adherence.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Experience in the retail industry preferred
  • Ability to work all shifts
  • Willingness to work within a team atmosphere
  • Physical agility, strength, and stamina to complete all work tasks
  • Ability to read, write, speak, comprehend, and follow written and oral directions in English
  • Politically and culturally sensitive. Ability to relate to clientele and all volunteers in a non-judgmental manner, and to always respect confidentiality
  • Professional, responsive, and positive work attitude is essential
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check
  • Standard First Aid/CPR Training is considered an asset

Please note: This summer position has been made possible through the Canada-Summer Job Grant. As such we are required to meet the eligibility requirements of the grant program. This includes hiring Youth for the position, which is defined by the Grant as: The youth must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. The youth may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as the youth was 30 at the beginning of the employment period.
