Quality Team Leader (Permanent)

The Quality Team Lead will support the APQP program through the PPAP and launch phases. This will be accomplished by organizing layouts, process capability studies, and gauge R&R studies, compiling and reviewing the Client and supplier PPAP’s, and coordinating GP12 safe launch activities through NCR.

What You Will Be Doing, as a Quality Team Leader:

  • Supervise and co-ordinate the activities of Quality Inspectors in the NCR area (containment, sorting, rework, and GP12 launch activities).
  • Contain suspect product in house and at suppliers when quality issues arise.
  • Review all nonconforming/suspect material against applicable standards, drawings, boundary samples, etc., and disposition as applicable (lead MRB reviews).
  • For supplier quality issues, notify the appropriate contact, and complete and forward a Material Discrepancy Report (MDR) as applicable. Request corrective/preventive action from the supplier (8D) as appropriate to the issue.
  • Track progress of corrective/preventive actions from the supplier (verify implementation and validation of stated actions).
  • Conduct in-process surveillance of production operations to ensure ongoing compliance to standard operating procedures (Product & Process audits). Follow up with corrective/preventive actions as applicable.
  • Supervise and co-ordinate the activities of QA Technicians (QA lab)
  • Review and disposition supplier PPAP’s. Inform suppliers for corrections as necessary and re-evaluate. Communicate customer specific requirements to the supplier ahead of PPAP due date.
  • Generate CMM Layout Requests for QA Technicians and prioritize lab activities.
  • Analyze, interpret and report on test data (SPC, dimensional layouts, etc.)
  • Complete Process Capability studies in accordance with AIAG SPC manual guidelines and any customer specific requirements and communicate them throughout organization. Reference customer specific requirements and the AIAG Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) manual for acceptance criteria regarding critical and significant product characteristics.
  • Evaluate the measurement uncertainty for all gauging referenced in control plans in accordance with customer specific requirements and the AIAG Measuring Systems Analysis (MSA) manual.
  • Complete customer PPAP package in accordance with AIAG - PPAP manual and any customer specific requirements following the project timeline. Process approved PPAP’s per procedure.
  • Request a formal corrective action plan when the supplier’s scorecard does not meet minimum requirements (quality or delivery performance) in any given quarter. Depending on the level of performance and severity of the issues, arrange on-site visits from the supplier to present corrective action plans.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of systems, processes, and products as laid out in the Quality Department CI Plan.

What You Should Have, as a Quality Team Leader:

  • 3-5 Years experience as a Quality Leader/Technician in automotive industry
  • Excellent organization and communication skills
  • Experience using measuring equipment, gauges and quality software.
  • Strong quality technical background and AIAG core tool knowledge (SPC, MSA, PPAP, PFMEA, and APQP)
  • Proficiency in 8D problem solving methodology.
  • Product and processes knowledge of metal stamping processes an asset
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft client software
  • Ability to be an effective team leader.
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints and strong working knowledge of GD&T
  • QMS and auditing experience working with the IATF 16949 specification an asset.
  • Valid Passport

In Return, You Will Receive:

  • QA Team Lead in Automotive: 3 years (required)

  • IATF 16949: 3 years (preferred)
