DEPARTMENT is seeking a
regular, full-time (1.0
FTE
) Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst (Senior Systems Analyst). As part of the Solution Delivery Team, the QA Analyst will work with the QA Lead to execute quality assurance standards and measures for BCIT’s information technology services. This individual will gather and analyze data in support of system/application requirements, writing test plans and scripts to track defects and fixes in product development and software application development. The QA Lead will apply proven analytical and problem-solving skills to ensure solutions meet business objectives and end-user requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES
:
- Contribute to the development, and enforcement of quality assurance measures and testing standards for new applications, products, and/or enhancements to existing applications, throughout their development/product lifecycles.
- Use industry-standard methodologies and processes for the collection and analysis of data for ensuring software, systems, and product quality.
- Conduct analysis of formal test results to discover and report any defects, bugs, errors, configuration issues, and interoperability flaws.
- Employ the use of automated test tools and data collection tools where appropriate.
- Analyze documentation and technical specifications to create test plans and scripts that will determine optimal application performance according to specifications.
- Ensure that testing activities allow applications to meet business and security requirements and systems goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify existing or potential issues.
- Collaborate with software/systems personnel in application testing, such as system, unit, regression, load, and acceptance testing methods.
- Communicate test progress, test results, and other relevant information to project team members.
Qualifications
REQUIRED
QUALIFICATIONS
:
- Minimum two-year diploma in Computer Systems or bachelor’s degree in communications, science, or business; and minimum six (6) years of current, practical experience, of which at least four (4) demonstrate Quality Assurance expertise.
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Must have demonstrated specific current IT knowledge.
- Proven commitment to providing and maintaining the highest level of customer service.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet changing priorities and multi-task while meeting strict deadlines.
- Must be a team player and work well with cross-departmental teams.
- Ability to learn quickly and apply new knowledge and techniques.
- Commitment to regular ongoing professional development (including specific IT skills, professional associations, and current industry trends).
- High level of professionalism and ethics.
QUALIFICATION SPECIFICS :
- Direct experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of quality assurance standards for software testing.
- Extensive direct experience as a tester for major application integration and/or major application product release.
- Strong knowledge of system testing best practices and methodologies.
- Extensive experience developing QA solutions for core enterprise software applications, such as WordPress, SharePoint, and enterprise ERP systems.
- Direct hands-on experience with ad hoc query programs, automated testing tools (i.e., Katalon or related applications), and reporting software.
- Proven data analysis, data verification, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with Jenkins and how to use it within a test automation framework.
- Experience with statistical reporting and analysis.
- Familiarity with programming languages (Java, PHP, JavaScript, Grails, PL/SQL etc.), would be an asset.
- Good project coordination skills and/or substantial exposure to project-based work structures.
- Experience with Atlassian product suite (Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence) or similar workflow management systems.
EXPERIENCE IN THE FOLLOWING WOULD BE AN ASSET :
- Banner ERP, or similar
- WordPress, or equivalent applications
- SharePoint, or equivalent applications
- Oracle
- Unit testing (i.e., JUnit)

Salary Range
Salary Range: $69,865 - $92,712 per annum.
Additional Salary Information
Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment. Salary based on education, experience and placement criteria as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
