I. JOB DESCRIPTION

Department: Quality

Location: NGC

Reports to: QA Manager

II. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The QC Laboratory Technician obtains production samples and performs a wide range of tests utilizing a methodical and analytical approach. This testing is vital to ensuring we produce safe quality products for our customers and ensuring that we are able to meet or exceed their expectations.

IV. BUSINESS COMMUNICATION

Excellent communication skills as well as computer skills required

V. SUPERVISION REQUIRED

Self-Directed with minimal day to day supervision.

VI. EDUCATION REQUIRED

2 year Associates Degree in Analytical Chemistry, Food Science, Microbiology or other relevant science concentration or equivalent experience.

College Certificate in Chemical, Biochemical or Chemical Engineering Technology or equivalent experience working in a laboratory setting.

VII.TRAINING AND SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Working with specialized equipment.

Inspection and testing; Analyzing Information; Processing Information; Report Writing.

Ability to maintain proper lab documentation and reports

VII. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Up to 2 years of previous laboratory experience in manufacturing or educational setting is required.

IX. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Laboratory

o Performs all standard test procedures in both physical and microbiological laboratories for finished product

o Maintain proper record keeping and data entry

o Maintain various inventory of lab supplies

o Follows all safety regulations and GMPs/GLPs

o Prepare media and stock supplies for routine laboratory testing

o Maintain an orderly and clean laboratory and communal work area

o Calibrate, verify and operate testing instrumentation in a safe and professional manner.

o Ability to handle multiple priorities with high degree of accuracy

o GMP and HACCP tasks

Production Support

o Performs quality or process control related projects

o Effectively works and communicates with other members of the Quality Assurance team

Other

o May be required to occasionally work longer than scheduled hours for time

in-lieu compensation.

o Available to work Saturday and/or Sundays

o Other duties as assigned.

X. PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

XI. WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but hearing protection may be required depending on the department where the employee is assigned.
