We are now hiring for a Quality Control Technician at our Abbotsford location. Our quickly growing company has plenty of departments to grow and develop your career!

What you'll do:

• Making of media, and preparing necessary supplies and reagents

• Food and environmental sample preparation for microbiological testing

• Reading, recording, and reporting results for all food and water microbiology tests

• Preparation and disposal of used samples and supplies.

• Identifying any non-routine samples and seek guidance on procedures for handling

• Perform microbiological analysis using a variety of laboratory techniques as per SOPs.

• Identifying and communicates procedural non-conformances to Supervisor

• Helping ensure that samples are analyzed within the holding time and turn-around-time requirements as specified by regulation and/or client demands. Notify Lab Supervisor in advance of problems that may affect this obligation.

• Supporting and enforce strict adherence to corporate Health and Safety policies

• Performing all lab support duties, including sample archiving, laboratory cleaning and waste disposal

• Performing other responsibilities as assigned

What you've done:

• Minimum BSc degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology or Post-Secondary Diploma in Biotechnology or equivalent and 2 years industry experience.
• Work experience in a laboratory setting preferred
• Theory and practice of aseptic techniques
• Basic knowledge of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
• Ability to communicate in a professional manner
• Ability to work within a team-work environment as well as individually
• Positive, dynamic, energetic, detail-oriented, organized, and motivated work ethic
• Able to work under pressure to meet changing deadlines and shifting priorities
• Flexibility to work variety of shifts based on business needs, able to work afternoon shifts & weekends

Due to the essential nature of our business, all new hires must be vaccinated against COVID-19. All new hires and all new temporary staff will be required to demonstrate having received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccination with the intent to receive a second dose once eligibility has been made available. Any exceptions for medical or religious grounds must be provided to Human Resources and should be substantive and well-documented.
