Purchasing Agent

Del Metals is a mid size steel service centre involved in the distribution of carbon steel products including sheet, pipe and general lines as well as the distribution of stainless and aluminum sheet products.

We are currently looking for a Purchasing Agent to join our team to provide procurement coordination and logistical support for our multiple product lines. The successful candidate would require demonstrated purchasing experience as well as the ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team.

Details of the role are as follows:

Responsibilities and Duties – Perform all leg work of calculating months on hand inventory by size and provide recommendations to purchase - Prepare purchase orders - Evaluate purchasing reports and prioritize purchase orders by critical need - Respond to internal stakeholder inquiries - Ensure orders meet the optimal inventory levels to maximize order fulfillment - Expediting incoming material arriving from local suppliers, regional suppliers and international suppliers – Monitor and track incoming container shipments - Liase and co-ordinate with the Ports of Hamilton, Sorel and Montreal as well as various shipping container yards to arrange delivery of product - Troubleshoot received discrepancies and invoices - Monitor orders and maintain delivery date updates - Resolve inbound material and invoice discrepancies, as required – Handle all Customer owned material (COM) processing and the entering of orders/managing of their inventory

Qualifications and Skills · Post secondary degree/diploma in Business Administration or related field 2-5 years relevant experience · Professional Designation or Certification in Supply Chain Management an asset · Strong attention to detail/highly organized · Full proficiency with MS Office Suite · Excellent verbal and written communication skills · Ability to effectively manage constraints and competing priorities · Ability to work independently as well as a part of a team · Sales experience an asset

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $60,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
