GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Project Manager/Engineer is responsible for all Capital and R&M projects at both our Armstrong and Chilliwack divisions.

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Plans, schedules, and coordinates all technical aspects of plant projects in coordination with senior management
  • Responsible for scope definition, capital cost estimates, investment justification, system design, and development of engineering design specifications
  • Manage outside consulting firms and contractors to confirm deliverables
  • Manage project installations, construction, start-up, commissioning and effective technology transfer and training to plant personnel
  • Tracks and analyzes information for production improvement including process automation and controls
  • Analyzes space and equipment utilization for continuous improvement
  • Ensures quality and safety standards are adhered to on all project
  • Stays current with regulations codes and standards to ensure compliance
  • Manage project costs to budget with oversight of work schedules of contractors and assigned personnel to evaluate the effectiveness of work processes
  • Proactively identifies problems and provides solutions to keep projects on schedule
  • Actively participates in strategic business planning, contract negotiations with vendors, projects budgets, etc.
  • Complete equipment commissioning documentation on projects as required
  • Order parts and equipment where necessary
  • Works within the constraints of the annual department budget approved by the Company
  • Is aware of critical control points as they relate to product liability
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) while performing job duties and tasks
  • Performs other related duties as assigned, including training as required

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical or Civil Engineering) or demonstrated competency in Mechanical, Electrical, or Process Industrial work
  • Grade 12 or equivalent, in addition to an industrial trade’s certification
  • 3 to 5 years design experience in equipment sizing and selection, piping, and controls
  • 5 to 10 years project management experience with mechanical, electrical, and industrial controls
  • Training experience in a manufacturing, production environment considered an asset
  • Hold and maintain a valid driver's license
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate preferred
  • 24/7 availability as required.
  • Available for shiftwork, including weekends, holidays and call outs as required.
