YOUR CONTRIBUTION

The Production Supervisor will supervise daily operations of the plant from production, packing, and shipping while maximizing stewardship, safety, quality, and productivity to ensuring policies and procedures are followed. This role contributes to the continuous improvement and optimization of our packaging lines to ensure optimal operation levels. The Production Supervisor will typically spend half of their day assisting production and the other half on administrative duties, including food safety traceability, production record keeping, etc.

This role reports directly to the Production Manager.

We are looking for someone who is flexible to help fill in the gaps in our supervisory team. Starting hours will be Monday to Friday 6:00 am to 2:00 pm; however, you may be expected to work additional hours as required by production needs. In the event of the need for Saturday work, sufficient notice will be provided.

The shift hours may change as this role will help with absence coverages and production needs.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure a healthy work environment, that maintains high food safety standards.
  • Ensure line operations are running within the health and safety standards set forth by the company.
  • Supervise and direct the daily work in the plant.
  • Support the production team in ensuring that the daily production requirements are met.
  • Responsible for the training and onboarding of new hires.
  • Responsible for leading, coaching, mentoring, and training team members.
  • Ensure all equipment is operating properly and take appropriate action to correct any issues that may arise.
  • Maintain productivity that meets/exceeds standards.
  • Strive to create a high-quality product that consistently meets product specifications.
  • Contribute to the whole facility in a positive way through continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation of machine malfunctions. Implement Lockout/Tagout as required.
  • Observe machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products are to standards.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong technical aptitude.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a similar role.
  • Manufacturing experience an asset.
  • Strong supervisory and teamwork skills.
  • Food industry experience an asset.
  • Knowledge on safety, quality, productivity, and inventory is an asset.
  • Ability to create accountability and lead by example.
  • Able to perform all tasks within the department including lifting and/or shoveling.
  • Able to stand and walk throughout the shift.
  • Punctual, reliable, and responsible.
  • Works well in a team environment and supports fellow team members.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Comfortable working at heights and in tight spaces.
  • Ability to lift to 50lbs.
  • Comfortable kneeling, bending, reaching, twisting, walking, stair climbing, and/or standing for long periods.
  • Personal protective equipment required in plant (e.g., steel toe safety footwear, hair net/beard net).

WORK SCHEDULE

Monday – Friday, 8-hour shifts; however, you may be expected to work additional hours as required by production needs. *During busy season, occasional Saturday work may be required. In the event of the need for Saturday work, sufficient notice will be provided.

We currently require coverage for our 6:00 am to 2:00 pm shift. The shift hours will be subject to vary as this role will help with absence coverages and production needs.
