Production Operator (Specialty) - Oakville

Safety and housekeeping will be the first requirement in all activities. Operator must know and follow all safety rules, model programs, and procedures associated with the Specialty Production department.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Operate equipment efficiently and ensure the production of high-quality Specialty products.
  • Cooperate and work in a team environment while maintaining consistent attendance.
  • Under the guidance of the Specialty Supervisor, the employee performs duties such as packaging Specialty products, running Brake/Punch Presses, performing housekeeping duties and other duties as required.
  • Self-motivated individuals with an ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Exercise personal safety, promote and enforce safety among crew members.
  • Develop and maintain good employee morale and working relationships within the department and with other departments at the plant.
  • Assist in the implementation of USG/CGC Model Programs, Safety Rules, VWIs/JSAs and Standard Operating Procedures, as required.
  • Carry out special projects and assignments as directed by Management.
  • Able to work flexible hours and all shifts.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • High School diploma required.
  • College diploma in sheet metal fabrication will be considered an asset.
  • Prior work experience in a production environment and sheet metal fabrication will be considered an asset.
  • Hands on experience operating, setting up and troubleshooting Brake Presses and/or CNC machines will be considered an asset.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Demonstrates problem-solving skills, autonomy and the ability to work as a team.
  • Experience with quality checks; utilizing measurement tools; calculating dimension; and reading, calculating, and understanding drawings.
  • Demonstrates ability to adapt to changing business conditions to support needs of department.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be a people and results-oriented individual who incorporates and emphasizes safety and quality in all aspects of the daily work environment.
