Title: Production Floor Controller

JOB DESCRIPTION

Purpose

The Production Control and Scheduler is responsible for planning and scheduling machine shop and sub- contracting as well as releasing shop packages to floor as per MPS (Master Production Schedule).

Competency Requirements

Job Knowledge:

  • Mandatory knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX
  • Working knowledge of Company products and applications.
  • Manufacturing background with exposure to Production Control and Scheduling.
  • Professional written and verbal communication.
  • Able to read and comprehend engineered drawings.
  • Attention to details
  • Position responsibilities and Company policies
  • Understanding of the machining, assembly process as relates to position and the

ability to use process knowledge in decision making.

Work Quality:

  • Evaluation of released packages to reduce errors in components before

manufacture.

  • Organization of scheduling and kitting area by project/subproject.
  • Accurate and complete ECR’s, NCR’s and CAR’s to eliminate repeat errors.
  • Returned excess inventory to be organized and place into system in timely

fashion.

  • Analyze, plan and manage production control activities to improve run time.
  • Plan and monitor material movement in production cycle to ensure continuous

operations.

  • Investigate production control problems, analyze root causes and derive

solutions.

  • Monitor the execution of job orders and adjust production schedule for timely

delivery

  • Analyze current and backlog job orders and accordingly develop production plan

and schedules.

  • Work with materials, manufacturing and purchasing departments in identifying

and resolving production planning problems.

Work Rate:

  • Attained M8 dates per MPS.
  • Balanced work load in shop .
  • Up to date data in capacity reports.
  • On time release of packages to shop floor.
  • On time manufacture and delivery of spare parts orders.
  • Ensuring that the production is cost effective.
  • Estimating costs and setting the quality standards.
  • Working with managers to implement the company’s policies and goals
  • Compliance to Company policies

Communications:

  • Timely communication of non-conformances
  • Completion of ECR’s, NCR’s and CAR’s.
  • Present issues or opportunities for improvement to plant manager.
  • Completion of all required payroll paperwork as per Company policy.

Interpersonal

  • Maintains a professional and respectful rapport with all other Samco personnel,

Relations:

  • suppliers and customers.
  • Communicates with all other departments to ensure issues are resolved

Policy Compliance:

  • Maintain knowledge of and follow the Occupational Health and Safety Act and

policies as outlined in the Company Health and Safety Manual.

  • Adherence to all Company policies as explained (but not limited to) in Employee

Handbook and any ongoing changes, regarding safety, attendance etc. to be accessed based on incident, accident and lost time reports and occurrences

Education, Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Production management school or college
  • Blue print reading mandatory

Licenses/Certificates:

  • College diploma
  • Certificate of supervision

Experience:

  • Previous experience in scheduling, supervision, management preferred.

Skills:

  • Work with dedication and knowledge

  • Basic ability and comprehend Engineering drawings
  • Ability to act decisively
  • Problem-solving capabilities.

Work Environment

  • Normal for an industrial heavy metal manufacturing environment.
  • Works with heavy parts, near moving mechanical parts, and material handling

equipment.

  • Environment can be noisy and there is a risk of injury while machine is being

tested.

  • Hot environment during summer season

Others:

  • Must be able to work overtime on occasional basis and on other duties as

required.
