POSITION TITLE: Product Support Technician – HazPak

Reports To: Product Engineering Manager – HazPak


MacLean Engineering is looking for a Product Support Technician - HazPak to join our Diversified team. This is a great opportunity to be part of a growing team, focused on designing and manufacturing recycling equipment for customers in North America and Internationally.

About the Position: Reporting to the Product Engineering Manager, the position is responsible for current products from the Diversified Division: HazPak Line, assisting with final assembly and providing technical support to customers from the office and at the customer’s site.

Specific tasks for the Product Support Technician position include but may not be limited to:

  • Travel to customer site/MacLean branches to provide direct technical support globally (primarily urban locations in North America and Europe). Time at customer site can be up to a month in duration.
  • Handle customer inspections of new equipment, and follow-up to ensure the work is completed before shipment.
  • Go onsite to install and commission new equipment upon delivery and provide technical assistance to contractors.
  • Go onsite to troubleshoot, repair and provide recommendations to prevent them from recurring.
  • Field follow-up calls on recent deliveries, provide feedback on performance, recommended spares list for new machines.
  • Provide technical product training to external and internal resources.
  • Assist the engineering department with root cause investigations.
  • Provide technical summary reports.
  • Review and analyze field commissioning reports to determine trends.
  • Prepare feedback for operational improvements and/or deficiencies to Product Marketing Manager and/or Product Engineering Manager.
  • Provides technical feedback to Product Marketing and Product Engineering regarding equipment performance and reliability.
  • Review spare parts recommendations and assist with developing lifetime operation cost models on new equipment.
  • Support manufacturing plant to build a new prototype/existing machines.
  • Provide field service and training departments with maintenance and operation information on new products and updated components.


About You:
The successful candidate(s) must be willing to learn, open-minded and flexible, organized, team oriented, disciplined, and must have a positive attitude. Ideally you will have had experience working within a similar metal fabrication, heavy equipment assembly environment, and you possess the majority or all of the following qualifications:

Those qualified for this position should be capable of demonstrating the following qualifications:

  • Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic (HDEM) or Mechanical Engineering Technologist or Millwright preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience working with industrial equipment preferred
  • Hazardous area training/experience is preferred
  • Work experience with PLCs (Allen- Bradley) preferred
  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency with MS Office
  • Ability to train and transfer knowledge to others
  • Strong investigation and diagnostic skills
  • Very good written and verbal communication skills
