ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Based at the Detour Lake Mine site, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Process Plant Trainer to join our Process Plant Operations team reporting to the Process Plant Operations Superintendent.

Detour Lake is the second largest gold producing mine in Canada with the largest gold reserves and substantial growth potential. The open pit mine is located in northeastern Ontario, approximately 300 kilometres northeast of Timmins and 185 kilometres by road northeast of Cochrane, within the northernmost Abitibi Greenstone Belt.The mine is situated in the area of the historic Detour Lake open pit/underground mine operated by Placer Dome which produced 1.8 million ounces of gold from 1983 to 1999. The Detour Lake operation has a mine life of approximately 22 years with an average gold production of 659,000 ounces per year.

The Process Plant Trainer will be responsible for delivering effective in-field and classroom based safety, mobile equipment and process plant circuit training programs and assessments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Your responsibilities will include:

• 
  Provide in-field and classroom based instruction in accordance with the mater training matrix and progression plans;
• Administer testing material to evaluate competency levels in both theoretical and practical applications;
• Assist trainees by providing on-going mentoring to attain higher levels of competencies and skill sets;
• Undertake regular reviews of curriculum and update as may be required to ensure effective delivery and adherence to legislation;
• Track training progress and training effectiveness;
• Provide reports on completed training sessions and individualized trainee progress;
• Develop training curriculum related to manufacturer’s specifications and operational/maintenance procedures, corporate and regulatory standards and objectives;
• Stay current with process plant operations and changes to equipment and procedures;
• Ensure adherence to document control procedures and best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS

Our ideal candidate has:

• 
  Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent;
• Minimum seven years’ experience in process plant operations, with three years’ in a plant training role;
• MTCU mill common core and specialty modules;
• Train the trainer qualification;
• Proficiency with MS Office;
• Experience developing training programs;
• Strong communication and presentation skills;
• Ability to motivate and influence others;
• Attention to detail.
