This position is located at our Penhorwood Site which is located approximately 70km west of Timmins towards Foleyet and requires daily travel for scheduled shifts.


JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
  • Provide process engineering support to the concentrator.
  • Ensure that process decisions are made based on data and engineering principles.
  • Monitor the process and make recommendations for optimization.
  • Lead process modification projects

JOB SCOPE/DIMENSIONS
  • Interact with Mill Managers, supervisors, other Production Team members, maintenance, and the Technical Department, to investigate and implement ways to improve operations.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Fully support health, safety, environmental and quality (HSEQ) programs by participating in their implementation, maintenance, and enforcement as well as compliance with corporate programs and policies.
  • Perform metallurgical investigations and balances.
  • Lead and execute site continuous improvement projects in support of site objectives.
  • Challenge the status quo with new ideas and concepts.
  • Prepare justifications for capital projects and coordinate the completion of projects via in-house maintenance staff and/or outside contractors.
  • Ability to provide Contractor Management oversight as required for Capital Projects and smaller Plant Projects.
  • Able to compile and present detailed data and Project Management information to keep superiors updated with critical project activity.
  • Provide appropriate management team with reports and recommendations for improving existing processes, installing new processes or technologies, and making new products.
  • Develop and transfer process technology from concept to production and ensure successful plant commissioning of process technology.
  • Develop process design basis and select unit operations. Prepare process flow and piping and instrumentation diagrams.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to operators.
  • Follow Magris guidelines to ensure Intellectual Property is protected.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS
  • Proficiency and practical experience with basic mineral processing techniques, including froth flotation, magnetic separation, crushing and grinding, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and optimize processes.
  • Strong practical engineering and troubleshooting skills with desire to work hands-on.
  • Familiarity with laboratory work.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills. Able to manage multiple and competing priorities and prioritize tasks appropriately. Project management skills desirable.
  • Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Outlook). Experience with Microsoft SharePoint desirable.
  • Familiarity with Pi, HMI, Factory Talk, MiniTab and CAD

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education and Experience requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in metallurgy, materials engineering, chemical engineering, or equivalent mineral processing engineering related degree.
  • 1-5 years of relevant work experience in mineral processing or mining fields.
Knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours when required.
  • Ability to work to deadlines in a safe manner.
  • Willingness for occasional travel to other work sites (less than 10%).
