PRINCIPAL AND VICE – PRINCIPAL POOL

Geographically located in south-central British Columbia, School District 22 serves the communities of Vernon, Coldstream, Lavington, Lumby, and Cherryville, providing excellent educational services to a diverse group of students. The area is home to members of the Okanagan Indian Band (OKIB), Metis, Inuit, and o?-Reserve First Nations students. We welcome a growing immigrant and refugee population as part of the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot Program and host our own cadre of approximately 220 international students annually.

We offer a wide variety of educational programs including but not limited to French Immersion, Distributed Learning Courses, opportunities for Trades Training and Secondary Apprenticeships, and school and district-based alternative programs, as well as numerous sports and specialty Academies. The district employs 1,212 staff and operates on a budget of $112 million. Our mission is to inspire and nurture students to thrive in their learning, relationships, and community with a vision to become a community where all are respected, and each person is encouraged to develop their potential.

We are a diverse community of learners, all of whom encourage each other to Dream. Believe. Achieve. We are home to 8,931 students; 19 schools, 14 Elementary schools, 5 Secondary schools, 1 online learning school (vLearn), and 1 alternate program.

We are looking for candidates to support and ensure the success of our Strategic Priorities including Student Success, Leadership Excellence, and Community Connections.

The successful candidate(s) will demonstrate:
A high energy level with personal attributes that include integrity, flexibility, and dedication

A thorough understanding of effective assessment and evaluation practices

A fundamental belief that all learners can achieve at a high level

A commitment to Truth and Reconciliation

Effective leadership during critical incidents and other stressful conditions

The ability to interact and communicate effectively with staff, students, parents, and the community

Experience in fostering inclusive education

Strong management and administrative skills

Qualifications:
A Master’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field

A valid BC teaching certificate or eligibility for certification with the BC Teacher Regulation Branch

A minimum of five years of recent exemplary teaching experience

Experience leading programs and initiatives at the school and-or the district level

Experience in fostering inclusive education

Experience incorporating Indigenous education and Inclusion environments

Experience leading and teaching in a unionized public-school setting using the BC curriculum
