Niagara College, widely regarded as one of Canada’s most innovative applied learning post-secondary institutions, will be delivering a short-term teacher training and development program for 50 Brazilian teachers, who teach in kindergarten to Grade 12, in summer of 2023.

Our team in Global Customized Training and Consulting is looking for Portuguese speaking trainers who can lead work in this program for Brazilian teachers. We are searching for four (4) incumbents who will deliver training to Portuguese speaking teachers. This exciting opportunity offers candidates an educational development experience to train professionals from Brazil in a diverse and fun environment. The program will run from June 26 to July 21, 2023, and is located at our Welland Campus.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Approximately 15-20 hours of teacher development training per week
  • Training will be done in the language of Portuguese

All program guides and content are prepared, the incumbents will attend a two-day session prior to the program start for onboarding and material review. All material is available in both Portuguese and English.

Qualifications:

  • Three (3) year degree in a related field
  • Ontario Teacher Certificate is preferred
  • Fluent in Portuguese both verbal and written
  • Experience teaching in the Ontario School System (elementary/secondary levels) and/or experience training adults
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student populations
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills

Area of competence, include:

  • Applying student-centred approached to engage participants in active learning
  • Creating and sustaining an inclusive learning environment
  • Working with adult learners

Rate of pay: $80/hour
