We are currently seeking a Mill Operations Shift Supervisor to join our team. This is a contract term basis role at our Atlantic Operations Touquoy mine in Middle Musquodoboit. This opportunity is offered on a 4 days on, 4 days off schedule working 12 hour rotational shifts. Reporting to the Mill Operations Superintendent, you are responsible and accountable for managing the activities of a Mill Operations Crew in terms of compliance to all legislative, safety, health, and environmental requirements, as well as working to achieve daily production targets.

The Opportunity:

  • Leading safe work practices by promoting a safe work culture and ensuring compliance with all site safety regulations.
  • Promoting and fostering Company goals and objectives with all Mill activities.
  • Applying all applicable regulations, codes and corporate/site standards to all Mill processes and procedures.
  • Training mill operators in all tasks assigned to them, ensuring that work is being done safely and correcting any unsafe acts and conditions.
  • Ensuring that only authorized and adequately trained workers operate tools and equipment or use hazardous chemicals like cyanide, hydrochloric acid, hydrated lime, etc.
  • Performing Lock out/Tag out and Try out isolations in accordance with the company’s energy isolation procedures.
  • Inspecting the tailings management facility during the shift.
  • Following up with accident prevention training where necessary.
  • Planning and managing the workload of mill processing operators to achieve desired production goals.
  • Inspecting each operating circuit during each shift.
  • Assisting mill operators in troubleshooting operational, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation issues to avoid downtime.
  • Working with other departments to ensure production standards are being met.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • 5 or more years relevant mill operations experience within the gold mining industry.
  • 3 years relevant mill operations supervisory experience within the gold mining industry preferred.
  • Strong time management, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow Health and Safety procedures and follow Environmental and Provincial regulations.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Valid Drivers License.
