Field Service HD Mechanics. 2&2 roster
VDH Contracting Corp is currently looking for HD Mechanics in the Grande Cache Region for full time employment. Drive in drive out or local. 12 hour shift, 1 hour paid travel per day. 13 hrs total daily. Fully furnished Condo provided in town for the two weeks on. Operating out of fully tooled Ford F550/ M2 freighliner service trucks on running repairs at an open cut Coal Mine. Must be an independent worker.
Looking for HD Mechanics with open-pit coal mining experience on some of the following machines:
Shovels: Komatsu 3000 / P&H 2800 electric rope shovel / Hitachi 3600 and 5500
Excavators: Komatsu 600 / Hitachi 870 / Johndeer 870
Haul trucks : Cat 777 - 793 / Komatsu 830E
Dozers: Cat D10T and D11R
Graders: Cat 16H - 24H
Drills: Atlas Copco PV271 rotary drill, Atlas Copco CM785 air hammer drill, P&H 320 electric rotary drill
Other experience recognized on: Sandvik drills, Underground drills, Tamrock drills, other hyd/electric shovels.
Journeyman Red Seal / I.P. Heavy Duty Mechanic Certification is required. If other type of trade certificate has been attained we will support to get Alberta certification
4+ years of active experience as a HD Field Mechanic
Mining background is required
Welding and fabrication experience required
Class 5 driver’s license
Must have excellent independent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills and the ability to develop solutions on the fly
Ability to use laptop maintenance troubleshooting software such as: CAT E.T., CAT SIS, Cummins Insite ETC, and Atlas copco, Hitachi, John Deer, P&H online/offline machine manuals
Role tasks-
It is expected that the employee/candidate has years of familiarity with these specific machines and is a strong confident independent heavy mechanic that need to handle technical fault finding and testing without turning for help. Repairs need to be completed at a dealer quality level, as being so remote in this location means a diagnosis needs to be accurate and performed safely in a timely manner to meet the customers needs.
Must have electrical testing and fault finding skillset. Will need to read schematics and troubleshoot wiring harnesses and systems to find faults. Must be comfortable with electric Shovels and working through low voltage and identify what is high voltage systems.
Must be able to read and understand hyd schematics. Will need to work through systems to find restrictions, leaking valves, internal bypass, jammed spools and faulty components on all machines with high pressure timely manner fault finding executed on the Hitachi Shovels.
Must have been exposed to Coal Mining and familiar with the processes and hazards to complete tasks safely
Be an independent worker running out of a tooled service truck on site as running repairs capable and familiar with all of the custom and job specific tooling available to them.

Salary: $71 per hour/ 13 hr days. $155,064 per year, plus benefits package, plus yearly bonus, plus team building activities every year.
