Role: Manufacturing Manager - Coach

Outcomes - What success looks like,

First 3-6 months

a) Improve the accuracy of data reporting of direct labour utilization to improve the analysis of estimated hours to actual. KPI - Direct labour utilization by work centre, targets established and monitored.

b) Lead 5S re- implementation across all manufacturing work cells KPI- Achieve level 4 to audit score

c) Establish the groundwork for Lean Manufacturing implementation focusing on a single piece flow cell methodology KPI-Training deployed

d) Assess skills and training requirements across manufacturing KPI- Requirements defined &training plan in place.

By 12 months

a) Drive manufacturing quality improvement initiatives to reduce COPQ and NCR’s, KPI - Measured as a percentage of sales revenue

b) Improve On Time customer Delivery performance via improved workflow planning KPI- Achieve 99% OTD performance

c) Reduce manufacturing cycle time by 20% KPI- Achieve a 20% reduction in days.

d) Improve labour productivity KPI-Direct labour utilization to increased to 90%

e) Reduce of customer identified NCR’s_ KPI- _Reduction of 50%

f) Develop and implement a fast-track Prototyping process to improve customer responsiveness. KPI- Developed and implemented with 10-day turnaround on prototypes.

TOP 6 Responsibilities

Manage Workflow

Working with engineering participation in developing and implementing manufacturing process enhancements. Establish deadlines per department and coach departmental supervisors on managing schedules to ensure 100% on time execution of production schedules, and the efficient balancing of capital and people resources. and lead time reduction strategies to improve customer delivery performance.

Quality

Oversee the implementation of corrective actions based on route cause analysis specific to manufacturing operations & departments to drive down the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).

Customer Satisfaction

Instill and drive a customer centric focussed culture across the manufacturing team with an emphasis on our customer expectations for quality, on time delivery performance and responsiveness to change requests.

Implementing new initiatives

Assess current processes and implement changes that supports the migration to a lean manufacturing environment. Identify training needs and drive cross training initiatives to increase manufacturing flexibility and responsiveness. In conjunction with People Support ensure certifications and recurrency training is maintained.

Technology

Remain abreast of current technologies and assess and recommend new capital equipment acquisitions supported by ROI analysis to improve operational efficiencies and increase customer satisfaction. Oversee preventative maintenance schedules, manage, and evaluate machine resources to ensure productivity and minimal downtime. Manage the repair and routine preventative maintenance of production equipment as per OEM specifications and internal schedules.

Skills, Traits & Competencies

Ability to set, communicate, account for, and achieve ambitious production goals.

Demonstrate a strong customer centric, approach to all aspects of the manufacturing operation including the ability to directly engagement with customers in support of sales discussions, product reviews and plant tours.

Engaging and inspiring hands-on leadership capabilities. Supported by a bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred, & 15 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, including 5 years’ experience in a management capacity.

Data / Metrics driven management. Able to effectively measure performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement changes effectively.

Experience operating in a cross functional, multi-disciplined teams setting. Extensive and proven experience in Lean Manufacturing with a strong history of leading in a continuous improvement environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $90,000.00-$125,000.00 per year
