Fowler Metal Industries Ltd. specializes in precision sheet metal fabrication, machining, welding and finishing. Prototype to medium and high production volumes. Established in 1972 we have been serving the sheet metal fabrication industry for over 40 years. We are currently seeking a Maintenance Technician to support our 3 facilities located in Brantford and Burford.

JOB SUMMARY

Performs general preventive maintenance and corrective repair of buildings, industrial systems, equipment and grounds. Working under supervision by Plant Managers and Engineering, assists in monitoring building system operations and performance. Utilizes several trade skills such as millwright, plumbing, and basic electrical.

Shift: 7:00am - 4:30pm Monday - Thursday and 7:00am - 12:00pm Friday with the flexibility to support operational requirements as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Complies with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and Company directives related to building operations and work safety
• Performs assigned day-to-day repairs, emergency and preventive maintenance.
• Completes maintenance and repair records as required.
• Responds quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.
• Maintains lighting systems throughout the facility, cleaning fixtures and replacing bulbs and lamps.
• Inspects new installation for compliance with building codes and safety regulations.
• Assists with troubleshooting and repairs of buildings and installed systems to include: plumbing systems, kitchen equipment, roofs, drains, and HVAC.
• Assists with installation and modification of building equipment systems.
• Estimates time and materials needed to complete repair. Identifies necessary materials and supplies to complete all tasks and provides information to purchasing department.
• Reviews assigned work orders
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Ability to communicate with subcontractors and schedule work
• Understanding of preventative maintenance
• Working at Heights certification
• Must be professional, respectful of others and avoids unnecessary conflict
• Must be self-started who can work within priorities independently
• Receptive to change and can adapt to changing circumstances
• Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from co-workers and / or supervisors.
• Valid G license
• Formal education in recognized trade would be an asset (ie. millwright)
