North Vancouver City Library is seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Library Services Assistant to join our team part-time (21 hours per week).

Reporting to the Supervisor of Operations & Customer Experience, the successful candidate will sort and shelve returned library materials, keep library materials in good order on our shelves, and perform routine maintenance, such as cleaning and inspecting the sorting machine.

Library Services Assistants are also responsible for:

  • Setting up program rooms for community and library events, meetings and workshops;
  • Assisting in preparing materials for removal from collection and performing basic repairs to damaged materials;
  • Providing directional assistance to customers;
  • Performing general tasks to keep the library orderly, well-equipped and prepared for opening and closing;
  • Maintaining printers/copiers for use; and
  • Distributing interoffice mail and newspapers.

Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 with some experience in a customer service environment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Individuals who have completed high school in an alternate way or are working towards this, and have customer service experience, such as retail experience, will be considered.

Salary:

$21.69 – $25.35/hour (pay grade 10; 2021 rates), plus 12% in lieu of benefits

Schedule:

Thursday - 8 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Friday - 8 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Saturday - 9:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Schedules are reviewed periodically and subject to change. Evening and weekend work may be required.
