SCOPE OF POSITION

Reporting to the Property Manager, the Landscape Maintenance Worker is responsible for the repair and maintenance of properties within the OCH portfolio. The scope of this work will involve the landscape in common areas and the yards of units. The primary duties include the requirement to:

  • Maintain OCH properties based on assigned work orders and in accordance with industry and OCH standards.
  • Prepare yards of vacant units for occupancy by tenants.
  • Ensure general safety and security for assigned areas at all times.
  • Maintain good tenant services and public relations.

STATEMENT OF QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

A typical candidate will have the following qualifications and experience. Exceptional candidates with different qualifications will be considered at the discretion of the employer if demonstrated experience, knowledge and ability warrant.

  • Minimum Grade 10 or equivalent plus relevant training in landscape maintenance.
  • A minimum of 12 months experience in landscape maintenance which includes experience operating a vehicle with trailer.
  • Health and safety training required by legislation and by OCH.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrated knowledge of methods and techniques of landscape maintenance as illustrated by previous work experience and practical testing.
  • Working knowledge of applicable Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
  • General knowledge of corporate policies and procedures related to health and safety.
  • Working knowledge of hand and power tools and tractor operation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with tenants and all work related contacts.
  • Ability and skills to perform routine maintenance tasks
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work without close supervision.
  • Must possess the physical and technical capabilities to perform the duties of the position

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Oral fluency, reading and writing abilities in English are required.
  • Bilingualism preferred.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Must possess a valid class “G” driver’s licence or equivalent
  • Security Clearance is required
  • Drivers abstract
  • Proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 as approved by Health Canada or listed for emergency use by the World Health Organization, a valid medical or other consideration under the Ontario Human Rights Code
