Join the Sulphur Experts Team and be a part of the bigger picture, helping refineries and gas plants operate in a safe, reliable and efficient matter. This is a full-time position for an entry-level Lab Technologist (Analytical Specialist) in our Calgary, Canada office. The primary responsibilities of this position are performing in-house lab analysis duties along with sampling and analysis duties at client sites, typically gas plants and refineries. Travel will mostly be in Canada and the United States initially, although international travel will also be required. Travel is required up to 30% of the time with intermittent 50% occurrences. Technical:

• Deploying Personal Technical Skills/Expertise: involved as project team member
• Perform laboratory analyses in the regional office
• Perform field test tasks including sample point preparation, sample collection, data collection and sample analysis (Gas Chromatography and Ion Chromatography)
• Participate in project planning sessions
• Clean, prepare and organize testing equipment
• Maintain analytical/testing equipment
• Maintain company vehicles and mobile labs
• Assist senior personnel with data interpretation and reporting
• Provide general support and assistance to senior personnel
• Complete personal timesheets
• Complete personal expense reports
• Miscellaneous additional tasks for that region as directed by the Analytical Manager

Responsibilities:

• Field/in lab analytical sampling and testing
• Works under direct supervision of the project lead for fieldwork
• Maintain safety qualifications
• Maintain competency on all work procedures
• Maintain a clean driving record
• Works under direct supervision of the Analytical Supervisor or appointed senior lab staff
• All work is reviewed for technical accuracy, attainment of objectives and adherence to deadlines and Company standards

Working Conditions:

• Regular exposure to industrial conditions
• Demanding physical labour at times
• Extensive travel required (local and international)
• Extended working days and extended working week

Qualifications:

• Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) in a Chemical or Laboratory field or Equivalent OR
• Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or Equivalent
• Working knowledge of various gas and liquid analysis systems (Gas Chromatography & Ion Chromatography) is a plus
• Laboratory experience / working knowledge of lab processes is considered an asset
• Drivers license (Class 5 or equivalent)
• Valid Canadian or US passport and ability to attain foreign work visas
• Willingness to comply with the Sulphur Experts Health and Safety Program and the Drug and Alcohol Testing Program
• Clean Criminal Record
