This position reports to the Metering Supervisor and is responsible for the planning, installation, maintenance and testing of metering equipment, associated communication systems, energy use measurements as well as assisting with collections and disconnects. Note that this role will be based out of the Country Squire location, and that we are also looking for a person to start at our Victoria Street location into a similar role.

Skills/Abilities/Knowledge

  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills
  • Intermediate MS Office skills and use of Corporate software
  • Intermediate time management and planning skills with the ability to multitask and adopt to changing industry standards
  • Able to deal with fellow employees and customers in a tactful and courteous manner
  • Intermediate mathematical skills
  • Advanced problem solving, critical thinking and trouble shooting skills within differing situations
  • Ability to participate in on call rotation and work late shifts
  • Physically able to work on Meter apparatus and heavy equipment in all environments
  • Ability to work in proximity to high voltage energized equipment
  • Advanced ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, sketches and engineering drawings
  • Advanced knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety requirements as it relates to individual, organizational and operational requirements
  • Advanced knowledge of the Enova Conditions of Service and Metering Specifications
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical trade tools, measurement and test equipment and their operation
  • Intermediate knowledge of E&USA Rules, USF Standards and the ESA Distribution Safety Regulations
  • Basic knowledge of Utility Work Protection Code
  • Intermediate knowledge of distribution system equipment and operation
  • Basic knowledge of TCP/IP, Ethernet and RF Communications
  • Intermediate knowledge of Measurement Canada Rules

Experience/Education

  • Post Secondary education in Electrical Engineering Technology or related discipline
  • Journeyperson Meter Technician certificate
  • 4 years’ related experience
  • Valid Class “D” driver’s licence with Z endorsement

Major (Primary) Responsibilities

  • Construct, install, wire, test and commission new or replace existing metering equipment and communication systems associated with residential, commercial and generation customers not requiring WMSP services
  • Monitor AMI system for defective meters and repair/replace as appropriate
  • Program, install and troubleshoot various types of communication equipment
  • Provide support to Customer Service with high bill complaints, as well as Collections and disconnections for non-payment
  • Prepare and maintain installation records in compliance with regulatory requirements and operating needs of Enova

Compensation

  • Salary ranges from $28.01 to $45.41, commensurate on one’s experience
