We are currently looking for a dedicated International Student Immigration Representative to join our team. This is a full-time permanent position based in Toronto.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate international student immigration related inquires and/or other matters pertaining to international students studying at ILAC and/or working in Canada
  • Assist students by offering immigration support in accordance with the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and Immigration Refugee Citizenship Canada
  • Receive and document inquires and prioritize them according to level concern, contact RCIC and relevant stakeholders and respond to received inquires within a 48-hour period
  • Assist with pathway student presentations, incoming orientations and immigration information sessions hosted in coordination with student services, marketing, and sales
  • Assist in consultation with the RCIC in the preparation of internal communications, announcements, and updates about changes to relevant policy and regulations
  • Provide recommendations and immigration support for all for cases involving students facing suspension, withdrawals, unscheduled breaks, or failures
  • Meet with students on phone, zoom and in person as required to ascertain the nature and scope of their concern and advise students on how to proceed in line with ILAC operational an academic policies and conditions as a study permit holder
  • Act as a resource to the RCIC, departments and branches within ILAC and its stakeholders on matters related to student immigration and how it intersects with operational and quality assurance policies within ILAC
  • Follow best practices and keep up to date on immigration news, international affairs and updates in policy and regulations related to international students and temporary residence permit holders in Canada

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution
  • 1-3 years’ experience or involvement in a Canadian post-secondary environment
  • Credentials, coursework, or additional training in student services, and/or immigration
  • Experience working with international populations and understanding of issues and barriers facing international students and intercultural communication
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural environment
  • RISIA license

  • Excellent interpersonal and diplomacy skills
  • Resourceful and able to analyze problems, identify key information and issues, and propose effective solutions and meet deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills in managing competing tasks with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail, especially when under pressure
  • Understanding of the requirements for confidentiality and privacy and freedom of information regulations, and how to address sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy
  • An understanding of IRCC’s mandate and duties of the Minister for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
  • An understanding Citizenship Act of 1977 and the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA).
