- Willing to travel cross-border, willing to travel for extended periods, willing to travel overnight and have a valid driver’s license
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
- Sitting and driving for prolonged periods of time
Work Location Information
- Driving to various long haul locations
Communication Systems Experience
- E-Logs, Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment, Citizens band (CB) radio and Trip recorder (on-board computer)
Documentation Knowledge
- Driver logbook, Trip reports, Maintenance and repair reports, Accident or incident reports and inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip)
Specific Skills
- Load and unload goods
- Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo
- Operate and drive tractor-trailer to transport goods and materials
- Perform preventive maintenance
- Perform pre-trip inspection
- En route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
- Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
- Receive and relay information to central dispatch
- Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy
