The Role: Integration Specialist (8 Week Contract)
Trellis Society is seeking Integration Specialists to join our team this summer through the Canada Summer Jobs program. This 8-week contract position will involve working 35 hours per week and providing quality summer work experiences for young people aged 15 to 30 years.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Working with the Summer Day Camps Team to identify children who may need additional supports to participate in summer day camp activities
- Working with the children, families, and the Summer Day Camps Team to develop and implement integration plans for children with additional needs. Integration plans should work with the child’s abilities and include regulation strategies and safety planning
- Ensuring program safety by ensuring the supplies and program spaces adhere to safety standards and addressing and reporting any unsafe conditions
- Ensuring the safety and well-being of all children, youth, and families in the program
- Following health and safety and sanitization standards set by AHS
- Adhering to Childcare Regulations as described by the Government of Alberta
- Attending and engaging in program specific meetings
- Providing staffing support for summer day camps programming
- Engaging in and modelling respectful and appropriate relationships and professional boundaries with children, youth, community, and staff team
- Maintaining client files, updating communication logs
- Facilitating support in a way that incorporates Social and Emotional Learning, Developmental Relationships, Natural Supports Framework, and Trauma Informed Practice
What You’ll Bring to The Role:
- Social Services education with recent and relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and ability to learn database systems
- Concise and clear communication (verbal and written) and problem-solving skills
- Up-to-date Standard First Aid and Level C CPR training
- Ability to provide a Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector search and Child Intervention Record Check
- Experience or in-depth understanding of Harm reduction and Trauma Informed Practice is considered an asset
Reporting Relationship:
This position directly reports to a Trellis Program Manager
