HIL Validation Engineer [13486] Job at MEDA Engineering

We are currently recruiting an experienced HIL Validation Engineer to join our team supporting our client in the automotive industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze data, develop test plans, develop test scripts, and procedures in a virtual environment or on vehicle (HIL, SIL, VIL etc) for validating ADAS functions and performances necessary to successfully launch ADAS features to production.
  • Test Scenario Creation (Vehicle, HIL, and VIL FuSa alignment of Test Cases to FuSa Requirements
  • Proactive / DFSS / Resilient Engineering process implementation and Test Case alignment
  • Review and help develop test procedures for various ADAS and Automated Driving features and applications
  • Implement test procedures and execute tests on dSPACE HIL equipment
  • Collect and analyze data and test results, apply statistical models and validation methods and report findings and results to the cross-functional team and senior management
  • Design, implement, verify and maintain test scripts for test automation
  • Troubleshoot issues and assist other validation engineers during the use of this equipment
  • Effectively communicate with cross-functional development engineers
  • Interface various vehicle control modules to the current dSPACE simulation equipment
  • Support the development of the HIL plant models as it pertains to the dSPACE I/O layer
  • Analyze, identify and implement system upgrades and improvements as they become necessary for validation and reliability activities
  • Participate in collaboration discussions with global HIL/SIL organizations to ensure standardization of tools, methodologies, models and test scripts
  • Support vehicle testing at the proving ground for correlation of virtual and physical validation

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Engineering degree from an accredited university
  • Work experience ( >3 year) and/or academic research in an automotive engineering environment
  • Previous experience in HIL/SIL/VIL development using dSPACE or equivalent equipment
  • Basic understanding of Vehicle Robotics/ADAS/Active Safety system level validation
  • Ability to read and analyze digital communications data (CAN/LIN/Ethernet)
  • Proficient in Matlab/Simulink/Python
  • Outstanding problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully execute tasks under minimal supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present technical material to individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Desire to work on vehicles and in a test environment (hands-on)

PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master of Science in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Engineering degree from an accredited university
  • Experience with vehicle dynamics, environmental and ADAS system simulation modeling within tools such as ASM, CarSim and CarMaker
  • Experience in system design and setup for HIL systems for ADAS or vehicle dynamics systems
  • Experience with setting up and executing VIL testing
  • Experience with Vector CAN tools/gateways (CANape, CANalyzer, or CANoe) for data collection, analysis, and vehicle diagnostics
  • Experience with various vehicle networking including CAN, CANFD, and Automotive Ethernet
  • Working knowledge of ground truth reference level sensors, camera systems, dGPS, visualization tools
  • Experience utilizing general engineering tools FMEA, DVP&R, Lessons Learned
  • Background in DFSS, System Behavioral Testing or Reactive Problem solving
  • Demonstrated ability to validate system/feature function and testing metrics to ensure end design meets functional intent
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and modeling to validate vehicle safety systems
  • Proficient in-vehicle functional safety standards ISO 26262

NOTE:

  • Remote
  • Required to drive a company car. Valid driver's license is required as well as a clean driving record
  • Travel periodically between Auburn Hills (for training and development) and occasionally Chelsea Michigan (for testing)
  • ADAS testing is to be performed during the day and at night (after dark). Must be flexible enough to work during the day or night as the test plan dictates
