GFL Environmental is looking for a Heavy Equipment Operator to join our growing team out of our Slave Lake operations. As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will operate heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner while providing exceptional service to drivers, residents and members of the public in a courteous and respectful manner. Heavy equipment required to operate include (but not limited to) trucks, wheel loader, front-end loaders, and other pieces of equipment. The chosen individual must adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Safely operator heavy equipment and perform tasks involving physical labour
Professionally represent GFL and provide exceptional service to all clients
Assist in loading and unloading of trucks
Clean, lubricate and perform other minor maintenance work
Complete daily equipment pre-trips and logs required for safety and service schedules
Complete all necessary daily paperwork. May include, but not limited to, daily logs, inspection logs, deliver receipts, vehicle inspection, hours of service, etc.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
Class 5 driver's license
Heavy Equipment Operator tickets (preferred)
3 years’ experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator
Knowledge of truck and equipment safety
Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance
Demonstrated organizational skills with strong oral and written communication abilities
Strong work ethic
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed
Sulphur loading experience will be considered an asset
